Description

This conference will provide participants with research, best practices, and practical implementation regarding Learning Stories for childhood educators, family child care providers, administrators, policy makers, and higher education faculty while highlighting the amazing work being done in our communities to expand the possibilities of alternative assessment through engaging and interactive workshops. Based on New Zealand's Te Whariki Curriculum, Learning Stories have been found to increase family engagement and support teachers in gathering data through meaningful observations and assessments intended towards documenting, planning and extending children's learning experiences in authentic ways. Attendees will leave inspired with a strong understanding of how they can implement elements of Learning Stories into their own practice.

We are thrilled to have keynotes speaker Wendy Lee, an international leader and author in authentic assessment practices in early childhood and the Director of New Zealand's Educational Leadership Project.  She will be accompanied by three New Zealand educators and trainers who will share how New Zealand adopted a restorative justice curriculum and how they use Learning Stories as a form of authentic assessment in their early childhood centers. In addition to our New Zealand presenters, we invite early childhood practitioners, administrators and faculty to highlight the incredible work on Learning Stories being done in California.

Individual workshop space is limited, sign up for your morning and afternoon session workshops ASAP! For a complete list of workshop descriptions & presenter bios please CLICK HERE!
