Description

China Dance School & Theatre was founded 2004 by internationally renowned Chinese dance choreographer and scholar Kaiwen You and Chinese dance master teacher Professor Aiping Zhou. After almost two years of preparation, from 2006 to now each year China Dance School & Theatre offers to public a colorful and multiple style Chinese traditional and contemporary dance production. This year CDS&T will offer another brand new, rich dance style showcase to public on September 28th at San Francisco State University’s McKenna Theatre.

China Dance School & Theatre’s mission is to introduce, educate and celebrate the rich and colorful heritage of Chinese ethnic and folk dance. Before coming to San Francisco, Mr. You and Ms. Zhou were award-winning faculty members of the esteemed Beijing Dance Academy, pioneering the teaching and staging of Chinese ethnic and folk dance. Now at China Dance School in San Francisco’s Richmond neighborhood (3055 Clement Street S.F, CA94121), they strive to pass their knowledge of the cultural background of these dances to their students, to provide superior training in Chinese Dance, to create new and innovative works based on Chinese dance, and to present their students in professionally staged and costumed performances.
